PMS Cramping

There are always some good articles at About.com. They have editors who take the best articles and index them on their site. It’s a source for all things related to health.

Would it surprise you to know that the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) says that about one in ten women experience menstrual pain so severely that they are unable to perform their normal routine for one to three days each month?

Having No Period

Amenorrhea is the absence of menstrual flow in a woman who has never menstruated by age 16. According to the University of Maryland Medical Center, there can be many causes, including drastic weight loss, chronic illness or congenital heart disease.

Usually, treatment of amenorrhea depends on its cause. Sometimes, the condition may be a sign that the reproductive organs in a young woman didn’t form properly.

If you’re found to have this condition, your doctor may consider hormonal therapy or surgery.
